  • Trustees

    • Janet Buckley - Chair

      Janet Buckley

Currently the Chair of CEMind, I have a life-long commitment to improving mental health services, both in my career and in my voluntary work. My background is in working in and managing community mental health services in Lancashire and Greater Manchester, and, since moving to Cumbia 20 years ago, I continued to work part time as a Mental Health Commissioner and as a lay member for Mental Health Review Tribunals. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to continue to promote good services and raise awareness about mental health issues in our local communities as a Trustee. Now retired I enjoy walking, gardening and grandparenting and being involved in village life.

    • Liz Dixon - Director

      Liz Dixon

I have been a Trustee for Carlisle Eden Mind for approximately three years, prior to that I worked for Cumbria County Council for thirty nine years. I have worked in several Depts but spent most of my working life in the Treasurer’s Dept. and Social Services, which was later, changed to Adult Social Care. In the Treasurer’s Dept. the majority of my work was spent on Social Services doing budgets for Physical Disabilities, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health. In later years finance was devolved out to the relevant Dept’s and I was transferred to Social Services. In that time I spent a good deal of my time on Mental Health and for the last ten years I became a Contract Manager where I also spent a good deal of my time on Mental Health Services. On retirement I was asked if I would be a Trustee for Carlisle Eden Mind and the rest, as they say, is history.

    • Sue Rushton - Director

      Sue Rushton

In the past I have been involved with various organisations on a voluntary basis, including serving as a magistrate. I moved to Cumbria three years ago. My personal experience of mental health issues mean that I feel an empathy with CEMind and its aims and commitment to the local community, as well as the wider area, so I was pleased to be asked to become a Trustee. I have experience and skills in finance, administration and property – although my life experience as a career woman, a working mother, a single mother and now as part of a reconstructed family are, I feel, my most important qualifications.

    • Lynn Emery - Director

      Lynn Emery

I am a practising solicitor & since qualifying in 1988 have specialised in will, trusts, mitigating Inheritance Tax, probate & powers of attorney. I have also been a full member of STEP for over 20 years, Solicitors for the Elderly for over 15 years (holding the Older Client Care in Practice award) and am a member of STEP's Special Interest Group's for Mental Capacity, Philanthropy, Cross Border Estates & Business.
After spending years working in large city solicitor firms I love living & working in Cumbria and think CE Mind gives crucial help to the community and in raising awareness of mental health issues.

    • Neil Billingham - Director

      Neil Billingham

I have been News Editor at ITV Border for four years. Having suffered from a bout of depression in 2009 I believe media coverage of mental health issues is vital to improve understanding and to reduce stigma. As well as being a trustee for Mind I also volunteer for the Samaritans. I'm married to a Cumbrian girl and live in Scotby with our wonderful cavapoo Walter!

    • Ruth Bushi - Director

      Ruth Bushi

Now a freelance writer, I have 20 years' experience in publishing and journalism. I've spent most of my working life in London, working with charities and companies of all kinds. I'm particularly involved in young people and students' issues, as well as financial literacy: I find creative ways to help everyone, everywhere gain essential money skills. I'm interested in supporting mental health needs, and have gained counselling and mindfulness skills, plus voluntary experience, to help play a useful role. I hope my background in communications and user engagement across social and commercial organisations can help Carlisle Eden Mind to keep making a difference in Cumbria.

    • Louise Maguire - Director

      Louise Maguire

I qualified as a children's social worker 18 years ago and have worked for a number of different Local Authorities in the North of England before settling in Cumbria 10 years ago. I currently work for Cumbria County Council in a management role. I have a number of years experience working directly in supporting parents & young people with mental health difficulties. I am keen to contribute in the Trustee role to the provision of mental health resources in the community. In my spare time I relax by being out in the Cumbrian countryside either running cycling or swimming.
