Robbie Dee joins the team

Posted Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6.54pm

We're delighted to annouce that Robbie Dee, acclaimed CFM breakfast show presenter and Panto personality, has decided to become an Ambassador for Carlisle Eden Mind after receiving an overwhlemingly positive response from speaking out about his struggles with anxiety and depression.

After a recent 7-week absence from his popular breakfast show, Robbie made the difficult decision to speak up about his reasons for taking time out. In a moving announcement, Robbie opened up to his listeners about his struggles with Mental Health live on air.

Robbie said; “I have had such an overwhelmingly positive response after speaking out about my problems with mental health, I am so glad I did. My bosses have been supportive throughout and I’ve been blown away by the response from the public. People come up and hug me in the supermarket; others speak to me about their own struggles. It’s been an eye opening experience.”

In any one year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a problem with our mental health; these difficulties can often be isolating and scary. There is such a stigma around mental health that we often feel we are alone, without knowing where to turn. Mind, along with the Time to Change campaign have been fighting this stigma and encouraging people to speak openly about mental health.

Robbie continued; “I have decided to become an Ambassador for Carlisle Eden Mind because I want to spread the message about how important it is to talk about our mental health. It is just as vital as physical health but we still find it difficult to discuss. I am keen to endorse the work this charity is doing to challenge stigma and support people throughout Cumbria.”

We’re absolutely delighted that Robbie has joined our team; we were so impressed and proud when he decided to speak publicly about his mental health, it sends such a powerful message and sets a wonderful example to people in our community.

Welcome aboard, Robbie!
