Young People's Advocacy Scheme funding extended for a further 3 years

Posted Tuesday, 21 July 2015, 2.46pm

Carlisle Eden Mind's successful Children and Young People's Advocacy scheme has received a further 3 years funding from Children in Need.

Working in schools and other settings across Carlisle and Eden we support children and young people around issues such as mental health, bullying, school, housing, work, health, college, pregnancy, substance misuse, relationships, professionals, safety, caring, youth offending.

Young people have told us that sometimes they find it difficult to express what they want to say, how to say it and when they do speak up it sometimes goes a bit wrong! Our advocacy workers suppoprt young people to;

  • Make sure people listen to what they have to say.
  • Take young people seriously.
  • Speak up.
  • Sort out the problem the way young people want it sorted.
  • Get clear information about what young people want to know.
  • Gain the confidence to speak up for themselves in the future.

More information abouyt the scheme can be found at our Young Peoples Advocacy page.
