Suicide Prevention - Open training dates

We are delighted to announce a new set of dates for open suicide prevention training across Cumbria. These are ideal for organisations who have only a smaller number of staff to train, or for organisations who want to sample the training prior to booking an in-house course.

SafeTALK

14th March 2013, 1pm - Kendal, Friends Meeting Room
22nd March 2013, 1pm - West Cumbria, Venue TBC
Duration: 3.5 hours
Cost: £20

SafeTALK is intended as "suicide alertness" training. SafeTALK teaches you to recognise persons with thoughts of suicide and to connect them to suicide intervention resources. SafeTALK is one of the LivingWorks training programmes, which is the most widely used Suicide Prevention and Intervention programme internationally. These courses are subsidised through Cumbria County Council’s Suicide Prevention Strategy. Please note the course is certificated, so attendance for the duration is essential.

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

28/29th January 2013 - Ulverston, Ford Park Community Centre
9/10th April 2013 - Carlisle, CADAS
Duration: 2 days
Cost: £100

The ASIST workshop is for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Over one million front line workers and caregivers have participated in this two-day, highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop.
